The Legends Plaza, outside the main gate at Skilled Stadium, celebrates Geelong's rich sporting heritage.
In 2010, The City of Geelong commissioned interactive displays from Easyweb Kiosk to add an innovative and exciting dimension to the stadium environment, providing sports fans with information on the park, its sculptures and it many sporting stars, present and past.
The resulting kiosks complement the impressive glass sculptures surrounding the ground, which depict local sporting legends.
The 42” outdoor screen automatically adjusts to ambient light and is secured inside elegant and robust custom housing, ensuring high performance 24hrs a day, 365 days a year.
Park tenants, including the AFL Geelong Cats, the Aquatic Centre and the Kardinia Park Senior Citizens’ Club can access the kiosk via the internet, enabling the displayed contect to be fresh and up-to-the-minute.
The screen interface and graphics for the kiosks were designed by Studio Equator, as a long time design partner of Easyweb.
The Studio Equator system divides content into three elegant graphics-rich sections. The sections feature information about the clubs who call Kardinia Park home, about the park itself (including maps), and information on Geelong’s sporting legends.
The interface design has a consistent and intuitive feel and it enables some components of text, graphics and video to be updated by park administration.
Visitors can access and navigate content at any time of the day or night and on match days it provides useful information to the tens of thousands of Skilled Stadium patrons. When idle, a handy screensaver displays information about Geelong and what’s on at the park.
The kiosk connects to the internet via a 3G modem to receive the latest updates at regular intervals. A sophisticated content management system (CMS) means that text, imagery and video can be uploaded using a simple web interface.
Updates are submitted to a central administrator and can be published immediately to the kiosk at the administrator's discretion.
